a British concern with whom we have been doing business for

many years, accepted our drafts for collection, and the

Toyo Kisen Kaisha Steamship Company, a Japanese Line,

accepted cargo for shipment to Macassar.

You will therefore, appreciate how easy it was for

us to make error after these two censors had passed the

cargo without raising the point.

Two months after shipping, we were advised by the

Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation that this firm

was on the Unfair List, and immediately instructed them

to divert the cargo to Stephens, Paul & Co.,an English

firm at Macassar.

Inasmuch as we took all precaution possible to prevent

delivery of the cargo immediately we were advised, we

feel you should release this merchandise to our office, so

as to prevent any increase to the heavy expense we have

already suffered.

We trust with this information in hand, you will place the matter before the Colonial Secretary and receive his instructions for the cargo to be released and turned over

Getz Bros. & Co., in to the Hongkong Manager of our firm

order that same may be disposed of.

Yours faithfully,

(Signed) Getz Bros & Co.
